Looking back into the history of Art, one can easily notice that the major artistic trends and avant-garde movements, worldwide, born and became bold in times of crisis, highlighting the role of art and the artist himself, as a watchful observer of the current economic, political and cultural distortion and violation of universal human values.

The social fabric is being disputed. Targeted man-citizen. And Art remains a touchstone of the culture over time. It involves moral expression and freedom, while acts as a catalytic factor providing moral human values. Art has the power to express, to seek, to open roads, to form and reform consciences. Art is a feeling, a sensation, a production, a reflection, a transition, a fruitful field of thought.

In Greece of crisis, the artist needs art more than ever before. Society needs the artist more than ever before.

In this artistic project «Painting Greece 2017 - Artists Against Crisis», we are happy to invite international artists residing in foreign countries, to visit our country, Greece and stay for 8 days at a selected hotel in Athens. There, the artists will have the opportunity to meet each other and communicate, to exchange ideas and feelings and develop through their personal art, an international visual-arts’ dialogue, in a specially designed workshop-space, called ''The Room of Solidarity''.
